DOCUMENTARY

Seed War

Who controls the seeds that feed us? This short documentary explores South Korea's growing movement for seed sovereignty amid rising global monopolies. Traveling across the country, we meet researchers, breeders, and young farmers working to preserve native crops and protect agricultural diversity.

From the revival of the native 'Darae' kiwi in Gangwon to royalty-free kiwis in Jeju, the film captures both state-led efforts like the Golden Seed Project and grassroots actions such as seed libraries and independent farming. Despite the challenges, these stories reveal a quiet resistance grounded in resilience, culture, and the belief that planting a seed is a choice for the future.

A nationwide effort to ensure a reliable supply of genetically appropriate native seeds for restoring healthy and resilient plant ecosystems.
